Irini was born and raised in Athens. After completing her undergraduate studies in psychology, she continued her postgraduate studies in clinical psychology. At the same time, she trained in Cognitive Psychotherapy at the Aegineteion Hospital and did her internship at the Psychiatric Clinic of the 401st General Military Hospital of Athens. She then attended training programs in systemic psychotherapy at the AKMA. Finally, she completed her doctoral studies in Family Psychology.
Her research interests focus on the connection between emotional attachment theory and systems theory, with emphasis on the emotional development of children and adolescents. She is also interested in the use of qualitative research in the above theoretical framework.
Since 1997 she has been working privately as a psychologist, and since 2007 she has been teaching developmental psychology in the undergraduate program in Psychology and the graduate program in Child Psychology at the ICPS College of Humanities. In addition, she teaches in the Graduate School of Psychotherapy, specifically in the Systems Psychotherapy track.
