Elias specialized in Linguistics at the Faculty of Philosophy of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, with an honors thesis in the field of Linguistics of Greek Sign Language. She holds a Master’s Degree in “Special Education, Speech and Language Therapy and Counselling” from the Department of Primary Education of the National Academy of Sciences of Greece and a Master’s Degree with “Merit” from Nottingham Trent University in the field of “Behaviour Management”.
His PhD thesis, also from the Pedagogical Department of the University of Athens, has received unanimously excellent grades and is in the field of intervention in the production of written language in students with Specific Learning Difficulties, while it is one of the first theses in Greece with intervention methods and practical proposals for Learning Difficulties in adolescent students.
His Post-Doctoral research is in the area of the study of Executive Functions of students with Specific Learning Difficulties, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Pervasive Developmental Disorders, and students with typical development.
As an Associate Professor, he has taught for several years in the Postgraduate Programme in Special Education at the University of Nicosia, in the Postgraduate Programme in School Psychology at Neapolis University in Paphos, in specialisation programmes in Special Education at the University of Athens and the University of the Aegean, and for several years he has taught at the University of East London, in the field of Learning Difficulties, both at undergraduate and postgraduate level. He has also trained hundreds of teachers in the use of Information and Communication Technologies in Special Education in school districts across the country in collaboration with Special and General Education Consultants of the Ministry of Education, and has presented programmes on state educational television in the field of writing production.
He is the designer and author of the Structured Educational Programmes series Educational Playbox of Gregory Publications in Intervention in Writing, for students with and without Learning Difficulties, which have also been translated into English. He has numerous publications and papers in journals and conferences, has been a member of organizing committees and has edited volumes of proceedings of conferences with international participation.
She has worked and collaborated with a number of educational institutions for Special Education in the public and private sector in Greece and abroad, with Colleges and international certification bodies, with special schools, institutions for children, assessment and support centres, associations for students with Special Educational Needs, for people with visual and hearing impairments, pervasive developmental disorders, etc.
