Callie Polemi

Callie is a Psychologist-Psychotherapist (B.Sc., M.Sc., ECP) with specialization in issues related to food, weight management and eating disorders. After a ten-year career as a legal advisor to cultural and intellectual property organisations, she trained in Person-Centred Approach, receiving a Masters Degree from the University of Strathclyde. As co-founder of the non-profit organisation Learning Nutrition, she is a certified Ellyn Satter Feeding Dynamics and holds a Certificate in Eating Disorders from the University of Athens. As part of the organization, she conducts trainings for parents and teachers in public and private schools on nutrition education. At the same time, it conducts trainings for health professionals (nutritionists) and mental health professionals (psychologists, psychotherapists) on nutrition and related disorders. Based on her extensive experience in individual and group counselling related to nutrition issues, her research interests revolve around the treatment of problems in relation to food by applying a person-centred therapeutic approach. She is a lecturer in undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Eating Disorders and is also a trainer in postgraduate programmes in person-centred counselling and psychotherapy. She holds a degree in Psychology from the University of Central Lancashire and is a member of various professional/academic associations (APA, WAPCEPC, PEEPBIP etc.). In addition, she is certified in Gordon Hellas’ Parent Effectiveness Training model and provides individual and group counselling to parents and carers of children. Otherwise, she deals with the treatment of anxiety disorders (anxiety attacks, panic attacks, generalized anxiety disorder, separation anxiety, etc.) and depression as a holder of the Advanced Certificate in Person-Centred Experiential Counseling for Depression.

 

Callie has been working with ICPS since 2021, teaching the course on Eating Disorders and as an Instructor in the Psychotherapy programs.
