After completing her undergraduate studies in Greece, Maria lived in France where she completed her undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD studies. Returning to Greece she practiced as a Psychologist and Counsellor and specialised in Person-Centred Approach.
In recent years she has been working in the field of domestic and intimate partner violence and abuse in all its forms, while her research interests include, apart from the study of violence as a social phenomenon, the investigation of gender issues and the psychosocial consequences of contemporary private and public life.
She is active in the issues of relationship problems, domestic violence and the diversity of violence and traumatic experiences by editing and coordinating seminars, while she also gives lectures, makes presentations at workshops and conferences and publishes scientific texts. In the context of her involvement with the person-centred approach, she is mainly active in the study of the philosophy and socio-political dimensions of the approach as well as in the elaboration of new concepts for research and person-centred supervision. Her focus on the philosophical perspective of the person-centred approach has been the subject of lectures and conference presentations.
Maria is a trainer in the Counselling Department of ICPS and responsible for the supervision of the training groups. She also teaches at postgraduate level in the College's Department of Psychology and her lectures are mainly on domestic violence and abuse.
