Penelope is the Principal of the 2nd Primary School of Athens. From 1984 to 1989, 1994 to 1999, 2002 to 2004, 2008 to 2010 she worked as a teacher in general schools in the country and in Athens Integration Departments. From 1989 to 1992 she worked at the Directorate of Primary Education Studies of the Ministry of Education as a manager of European programmes. From 1999 to 2002 she worked at the Secretariat of the 1st PEK of Athens and from 2007 to 2008 she worked as Deputy Director of the D.I.E.K. of Agios Dimitrios.
She has taught subjects related to Special Education in numerous seminars for teachers and professionals as well as in annual programs of Greek Universities and Private Institutions. She has also taught in undergraduate courses of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens as well as in its tutorial sections. Many of her papers have been presented in Greek and international conferences and she has also written a number of articles.
Her scientific and research interests focus on ways to improve the skills of students with Learning Difficulties in order to become fully functional in the requirements of the traditional school as well as on ways to detect the school readiness of students before their transition from Kindergarten to Primary School.
